We promised to fill you in on the exciting competition for the Ultimate Georgetown Wedding that was held last week, so here is the recap you've been waiting for! 49 brides [and one brave groom]-to-be gathered in the TD Bank parking lot to compete in a series of events that would determine the lucky couple, who walked away with the grand prize of a completely amazing wedding in Georgetown!
Kim Forrest, one of of our fabulous co-judges, summed it up perfectly on The Bridal Party Blog!
Round One: A bouquet toss! Volunteers tossed 50 bridal bouquets to the contestants—half tied with red ribbon, half tied with black ribbon. The contestants who caught the black-ribboned bouquets moved on to the next round.
Round Two: A cupcake-eating contest! Each contestant ate as many mini cupcakes as possible in 60 seconds, and those who ate more than three cupcakes moved on to the next round.
Round Three: Trivia! The contestants were asked the following three questions. If contestants got one of the three answers right, they moved on.
1. Who designed Carrie Bradshaw’s wedding gown in the Sex and the City movie?
2. Who designed Kate Middleton’s wedding dress?
3. Which princess had an MGM costume create her wedding gown?
Round Four: Toilet paper wedding dress fashion show! Each contestant and a team of three friends created a wedding dress made entirely out of toilet paper. Each contestant then modeled her the gown on the runway. Judges [including our very own Hitched owners, Carin and Julia] evaluated each creation on design, construction, and originality.
The winner?! Kyosha Johnson, who works at Lacoste in Georgetown and is quite the fashionista, judging by her toilet paper gown alone! She’ll marry her Howard University sweetheart, Deric Canty, in a “casual, vintage-inspired” celebration at Sequoia.

Want to read more about this spectacular event from the eyes of the winner? Be sure to check out Kyosha's blog, where she describes the competition in even more detail!
Thanks so much to all of the amazing sponsors and participants! We were so thrilled to be a part of this event and can't wait to help Kyosha find her dream gown!
