Trendspotting: Fall Bridesmaid Colors

The crisp leaves, the cool breeze—what’s not to love about autumn? Fall is one of the more popular wedding seasons in DC, and with good reason! While we’re not so into specific “rules” when it comes to bridesmaids dresses, we do think that there are some colors that look exceptionally pretty with an autumnal back drop.

Thinking to go a bit more neutral, but don’t want to stick with basic black or chocolate brown? Navy and charcoal work well with almost any color palette.

There are plenty of bright colors that are still seasonally appropriate and tie in with foliage so beautifully.

One eye-catching color combo we’re loving for fall is turquoise and orange. How perfect would this cool-toned Lela Rose bridesmaid dress look with bright, warm bridesmaid bouquets like this one?

Pink often gets stereotyped as a summer color, but a richer shade of the feminine hue is perfectly appropriate (and oh-so-pretty) for fall.

Modern Trousseau Trunk Show - October 30th & 31st

We wanted to give DC brides-to-be a heads up about an upcoming Happening at Hitched-- next weekend’s Modern Trousseau Trunk Show!

We’ll be featuring Australian-born designer Callie Tein’s exquisite bridal collection (including some brand new gowns!) on both Friday and Saturday, as well as her elegant (yet far-from-frumpy) Mother of the Occasion line on Friday. Hitched Proudly Presents... Jorge Manuel!

While at the New York Bridal Market, we discovered a fabulously unique collection of wedding gowns by up-and-coming Miami designer Jorge Manuel. Though he's been designing gowns for years for private clients and local Miami boutiques, his bridal collection is finally going global-- and Hitched is thrilled to have signed on as one of the first bridal salons to be carrying his gowns. 

These gowns are truly unlike anything we have ever seen before. They are elegantly structured and create the perfect balance between fantasy and classic couture bridal. His 2010 collections are inspired by a modern-day "Alice in Wonderland" theme, and the gowns are just as gorgeous as his creative ad campaign centered around the literary classic. 

We are so excited to welcome Jorge Manuel to the Hitched family, and can't wait to show you all the gowns in person!

Celebrating 15 Inspiring Years Of Martha Stewart Weddings

We had such a blast at the Martha Stewart Weddings 15th Anniversary party which was held at the oh-so-grand Plaza Hotel during the New York Bridal Market. The soiree was truly spectacular-- from the jaw-dropping decor to the scrumptious food and drinks and fun DIY activities, it was wonderfully planned and executed.

The night ended with some of our favorite desserts in miniature form... donuts and popsicles and chipwiches, oh my!

We *Heart* Amsale

We were wowed by all of our current designers’ collections at Market, as well as some newcomers (stay tuned for some big reveals!). 

One designer that particularly blew us away with their Spring 2010 collection was Amsale. We’ve always loved her gowns and really felt like this season’s design aesthetic was elegant and dramatic, appealing to all types of brides. Too bad we have to wait until the springtime for them to arrive in the store—but we’re sure it will be well worth the wait!
