We've got lots of wedding bells ringing amongst the Hitched gals these days, and of course we can't keep you out of the loop with all the in house wedding planning! Today we've got the oh-so-adorable story of Hitched consultant Amanda and her groom-to-be, Danilo. The rest of us here at Hitched are pretty proud to have been instrumental in their meeting... but read on for the full story!
Amanda: If it weren't for my job at Hitched, I don't think I would have met my fiance. Danilo and I met at the bank. He was working at the bank and I was a customer who would come in during my lunch break at Hitched over the summer of 2010 to deposit checks (which eventually turned into me taking money out of my account in odd increments just to go talk to him). With many encounters and conversations, the girls finally encouraged me enough to shyly (yet boldly) give him my number. We went on our first date the following week and have been together ever since.
Danilo is one of those amazing guys who I had always been looking for - he's kind, smart, giving, loving, hard-working, funny, and honestly has the biggest heart of anyone I've ever met. He's perfect for me and my "soulmate." We have been talking about marriage for a while so our proposal doesn't come as a shocking surprise, but the moment was a surprise nonetheless.
I had to go to the bank randomly to get something notarized - I wasn't thrilled to have to go out of my way on my day off, but Danilo set up the appointment for me so that I wouldn't have to worry about it. Since I know pretty much everyone at the bank, I was headed to Georgetown (where we met) to get my paper notarized. People had been acting quite strangely now that I think of it (my mother almost refused to speak to me the night before, my roommate scurried out of the apartment super early to a last-minute brunch with a friend in town, and Danilo was coaching a soccer practice on a Saturday which was a bit out of the ordinary). But I didn't think much of these things.
I went to the bank and took care of what needed to be done. As I was about to leave, the notary (a friend of ours) asked me if I was meeting anyone at the bank. Confused, I said, "What?" And he asked again - I was not meeting anyone so I said "No." But then he told me that someone was there to see me and that I should just go check it out in the lobby. So I slowly got up (still not thinking anything of it) and went into the lobby. And there was Danilo in the lobby in a suit with two dozen purple and white roses (he knows red roses aren't my favorite). It was at this moment that I realized what was about to happen. I asked Danilo what he was doing there as he handed me the beautiful flowers. He told me he didn't have soccer practice but instead wanted to tell me how happy I made him and that this was exactly where we had first met. He said some other beautiful things, which in all honesty I now forget because it all happened so quickly! But I do know that he got down on one knee in front of a few customers and asked me to marry him.
